Upcoming Event

The 15th Annual Cinco de Mayo celebration presented by the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce Idaho Press-Tribune be held on May 3rd at Gabiola Fields.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates May 5, 1862, when the Mexican army successfully fought the invading French army, led by Emperor Napoleon III of France, at the Battle of Puebla. The Mexican battle victory sparked the Mexican people to revolt, with American support, and forced the French to withdraw their claim on Mexico City and dissolve their imposed governmental system.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s 1862 triumph over the French army in the Battle of Puebla, but celebrations have many modern day benefits, including music, food, fun and an appreciation of Hispanic culture and traditions.
